Drac fumed. “I’m only out to save the disobedient trick-or-treating monsters—who I now know is you. What if you were caught?”

“Dad, how are we gonna get caught when every monster is forcing their kids on lockdown and into hiding?” Mavis asked.

“Not every monster,” Drac said. He thought of his sister, Lydia. Drac guessed she’d be arriving soon to catch Mavis.

He quickly sent Hank home with his parents, who he had called to pick him up. When Drac spotted Uncle Gene’s car in the distance, he tossed Wendy and Pedro toward it so they could go home too. He needed more time to handle Mavis and the situation. Then he and Mavis turned into bats and flew away.
